Terms of Service
Effective Date: March 7, 2026 | Last Updated: March 7, 2026
By installing, accessing, or using the Plip GitHub App or any services provided through plip.io ("Service"), you ("User," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.
1. Service Description
Plip is an automated tool that uses artificial intelligence to analyze bug reports in GitHub issues, generate potential code fixes, and open pull requests ("PRs") in your repositories. Plip operates as a GitHub App that responds to labeled issues.
2. No Guarantee of Correctness
Plip is an AI-powered tool and is not infallible. The code changes Plip proposes may be incorrect, incomplete, introduce new bugs, create security vulnerabilities, cause data loss, break existing functionality, or otherwise produce unintended consequences.
Plip does not guarantee that any proposed fix will:
- Correctly resolve the reported issue
- Be free of errors, bugs, or vulnerabilities
- Be suitable for production use
- Comply with your coding standards, security requirements, or regulatory obligations
- Be compatible with your full system or deployment environment
3. Human Review Required
You must treat every pull request created by Plip as unverified, AI-generated code that requires thorough human review before merging.
It is your sole responsibility to:
- Carefully review all code changes in every Plip-generated PR
- Test proposed changes in your own environments before merging
- Verify that changes meet your quality, security, and compliance standards
- Decide whether or not to merge any PR
Do not merge any Plip-generated pull request without a qualified human reviewing and approving the changes. Plip is a tool to assist developers — it is not a replacement for human judgment, code review, or quality assurance.
4. Assumption of Risk
By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You use Plip entirely at your own risk
- You are solely responsible for any code that is merged into your repositories, regardless of whether that code was generated by Plip
- You are solely responsible for any consequences that result from merging, deploying, or otherwise using code proposed by Plip
- Plip's automated test execution is a convenience and does not constitute a guarantee that the proposed changes are safe or correct
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Plip, its owners, operators, contributors, and affiliates ("Plip Parties") shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Damages resulting from merging or deploying code generated by Plip
- Data loss, corruption, or security breaches caused by Plip-generated code
- Service downtime, outages, or interruptions
- Loss of revenue, profits, business, or goodwill
- Costs of procurement of substitute goods or services
- Any other damages, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory
This limitation applies whether or not the Plip Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages and regardless of whether any remedy fails of its essential purpose.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, the Plip Parties' liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. The Plip Parties disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Plip Parties from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service
- Your decision to merge, deploy, or use any code generated by Plip
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Any claim by a third party related to code generated by Plip that you chose to use
8. Your Repositories and Data
- Plip accesses your repositories only through GitHub's API using the permissions you grant during installation
- Plip reads your code to analyze issues and generate fixes — your code is processed by third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic) to generate fixes
- Plip does not store copies of your source code beyond the duration of a single job execution
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to grant Plip access to your repositories
- You can revoke Plip's access at any time by uninstalling the GitHub App
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Plip to generate malicious, harmful, or illegal code
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or safety controls
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Use the Service in violation of GitHub's Terms of Service
- Resell or redistribute access to the Service
10. Usage Limits and Billing
- Usage limits and pricing are determined by your subscription plan
- Plans and pricing are subject to change with reasonable notice
- Plip reserves the right to suspend or throttle access for excessive or abusive usage
- Refund policies, if any, are as stated on the pricing page at the time of purchase
11. Modifications to Terms
Plip reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the plip.io website or via GitHub notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Termination
- You may stop using Plip at any time by uninstalling the GitHub App
- Plip may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice
- Sections 2 through 7 survive termination
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Plip regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
